Understanding Chronic Absenteeism

In 2018, the NDE began including chronic absenteeism in AQuESTT classifications. This session will share relevant information on how chronic absenteeism is included in the accountability system, discuss root causes of absenteeism, and share strategies and resources for addressing student absences.

Why Partner?: A Look at the Benefits From Multiple Perspectives

Building collaborative partnerships takes time and commitment, but it is worth the effort! Attend this session to learn more about the benefits of growing partnerships from multiple perspectives: the partners, an afterschool program leader, and school administrators. Data and examples shared will focus on community partnerships with 21st Century Community Learning Centers afterschool/summer programs, but will describe opportunities that would enhance students’ school day learning experiences as well.

#FamiliesMatter: Engage Families and the Community to Increase Student Learning

What does it mean to have Positive Partnerships and Relationships for Student Success? Learn about NDE’s work with ESU staff and Nebraska stakeholders to define and build a framework focused on this AQuESTT tenet. One successful model, Statewide Family Engagement Centers, as well as resources available through the National Center for Families Learning, will be shared. School and ESU staff will learn about ways to access information and become involved in this work.
